Install crank windows for functionality and lightness! Now CrzRsn has a window of his very own, instead of looking out a powerless power window like a sad puppy.
FrankenJeep, arise!
And here is the blue door from which we cannibalized:
Anyone want a window motor for a 97 XJ?

Always wanted to do this on my land cruiser.

Haha that's hilarious! The drivers window in my subie quit working today so I have a weekend of electrical work coming up soon, god help me.

Now it'll be a breeze to run doorless!

Some Chrysler stupidity (uncommon fastening scheme for the window glass) aside, it wasn't too difficult. Crzrsn had it figured out before I could even start messing it up :) we picked up two whole doors for $40 each, and the guy had a bunch of Jeep parts hanging around for future projects.

the Viper team insisted the electric lifts actually weighed less. Not sure if I'd true but that was the story and they stuck it.

Absolutly not. The mechanical crank is way lighter than the motor, and theres less cable going to the window runner since its closer.

Wiring harness is still in the door.

Maybe on a brand new Viper, but certainly not on a 97 XJ rocking 70s electronics.

Well, damn. Also, I didn't even notice the door speaker. My bad.

I spent part of Saturday afternoon fixing the manual window mechanism on an '86 Renault - with PEx pipe from the hardware store. Crank windows FTW.

They never sold the 80's series land cruiser in the states with manual windows. I'd have to get parts from over seas so it becomes cheaper to just replace all the window motors - which I sadly need to do given that they hardly budge in the winter.
